What You Need to Know
Depots are regulated and permitted by the BCMB. Depots are accountable to remain in compliance with BCMB by-laws and must meet the requirements of a Quality Assurance Program (QAP) for the proper collection and handling of empty beverage containers returned by consumers.

For Your Customers
Alberta's bottle depots accept empty beverage containers from the public and provide refunds. Consumers can find their nearest depot using Find a Depot.

Depot Compliance
The BCMB monitors depot compliance through regular audits and inspections. Depots must follow the Common Collection System by-law and the QAP requirements. Non-compliance may result in warnings, fines, or permit revocation.
